Most of my inspiration came from Native North American masks -- I like the sort of halo coming from the face and the simplicity of the design. I also looked at Native South American masks and really liked how they were decorated in a mosaic kind of way. Again, I like the idea of having a simple design that is executed in a way that makes it interesting.
